A Bit About Margaret ...

I am a qualified, experienced and passionate plants person, gardener and garden designer.

In 1993 I gained an honours degree in horticulture at Nottingham University and I have recently graduated from the British Academy of Garden Design with a postgraduate diploma in Garden Design.

For over 10 years, I managed the plant area of a large garden centre in Wiltshire, building and maintaining close links with nurseries across the country for the supply of a huge range of plants as well as managing the care of the plants, sales, and providing advice and knowledge on their positioning in the garden and aftercare.

I enjoy travelling and have visited and studied productive and ornamental gardens throughout the UK, Europe, Uganda and The Gambia.

I often give talks to local groups on a range of horticultural topics; I have manned garden advice stands for The Garden Centres Association at The Chelsea Flower Show; and participated in a panel of experts to answer listener’s questions on local radio.

For the last 22 years,  I have been designing gardens as a self-employed garden designer. I am also regularly asked to do consultations in gardens which need some guidance rather than a full design. I am often asked to work on specialist tasks such as fruit tree pruning; rejuvenating neglected shrubs and reclaiming neglected and often historical gardens.

I regularly visit other gardens, both private and public for new ideas.
